This is a computer simulation of an electron-positron collision from the DELPHI detector at CERN in 1988 !

The image below shows the original slide, which was well preserved, displaying the DELPHI event No. 4 from February 25, 1988. In the display, the blue outline represents the cylindrical detector. The variously coloured lines are the tracks of particles created in an electron-positron annihilation. The solid lines represent charged particles, which bend in the detector's magnetic field. The broken lines represent neutral particles, which are unaffected by the magnetic field.


When printed, the explanatory image is also engraved in the back of the aluminium print : there is always a story behind a VolMeur.
